First let’s start with her physique. Christina is 44 years old, she weighs 161 pounds (73 kg) and her height is 5ft 7½ inches (171,5cm). Her measurements are 42-30-39 inches (107-76-99 cm). This means she has a 42 inch bust, which gives her a 36F bra size. The other numbers mean she has a 30 inch waist and 39 inch hips. Just for a better understanding of this, her dress size is US 12 or EU 42. And for the curious ones, her shoe size is US 8 or EU 38.5
If Christina’s physique is something close to your ideal figure, you should know there are some things you can do to achieve this or at least get a bit closer to it. There are many exercises for the entire body, but some that Christina recommends and does herself are:
- Picking up weights while standing on a Bosu ball to build muscles, this way your workout is more functional.
- Any kind of cardio (running, walking, swimming, cycling…)
When it comes to exercising, it is important to mention that Christina was a dancer until she was 19 years old. She said she never worried about her lifestyle or food she ate during this period. Now that she is in her 40s, it is a completely different story. She said she has to constantly remind herself to take vitamins and exercise. She was also a model and she said that the first time she went to Italy she drank cappuccinos on a daily basis and gained 15 pounds. She said she felt like a beautiful women for the first time and she never tried or wanted to lose that weight. As I mentioned before, her breast have been a topic of many speculations. Many people speculated she had a plastic surgery, but she always denied such theories. Her weight has gone up and down through the years and this could be a cause increase and decrease in her bust size, which has a lot more sense.
When it comes to lifestyle an important thing Christina recommends is enjoying in your food and while you are cooking it. Try to replace certain ingredients with healthier options, for example when she craves sour cream or crème fraiche she takes Greek yogurt instead. But she also believes we should let our cravings win from time to time, she enjoys sipping on a cappuccino or eating chips with French onion dip, and one of her favorite meals spaghetti with red sauce. Her favorite cocktail is Brandy Alexander, she doesn’t drink it all the time, but it is the best drink she has ever had.
According to her, a healthy lifestyle is not depriving oneself of doing what you want.
Other than lifestyle, there is another style we have to think about. A good figure isn’t just achieved by how we actually look, but how we dress as well. This is something Christina knows very well, and she uses it to her advantage. She describes her style as feminine and she loves vintage clothing and style. Her favorite colors are red and coral. She likes an accentuated waist and strong shoulders, because they highlight her figure. For example she wears a lot of dresses with a nip in her waist and a full skirt that masks her hips and highlights her curves. She likes different shapes on her neckline, like sheer or a v-neck. It can be very difficult to find a good suit when you are a women with curves like Christina, she looks for single breasted suits with wide leg trousers, as they elongate her frame and make her look elegant. Another thing you should keep in mind when it comes to curves is balance. If you decide to highlight a certain feature of your body, like your legs, you should probably wear something less revealing as a top.
If you’ve ever seen Christina in Mad Men, you know her signature make-up look includes a liquid liner, and this is something she has been doing since High School. And even a more signature look for her is her red hair. She is actually a natural blond but she started dying her hair at the age of ten and hasn’t stopped since. She got the idea from a book she read Anne of Green Gables.
If your dream look is to look like Christina Hendricks, but you are not close to achieving this goal, try to remember one thing Christina said: “If there’s anything to be learned from me, it’s that I’m learning to celebrate what I was born with.” This is the best advice you can take from this story.
