Takes about 7.5 minutes to boil 16oz of water. I tried cooking some small sausages, other things in lid / fry pan using some olive oil. Worked fine. Frying eggs not recommended as the sharp edge on recess which seats inside the burner stand allowed egg to burn into the recess.Took a while to clean off. Boiled raman noodles fine. Made 4 hardboiled eggs in the pot, so passed my test for cooking.

I look forward to taking this on my next trip to the SouthWest for day hikes. I plan to keep this in my vehicle as part of a car camping kit for when the bug bites. Not recommended for through-hikers on the AP.

My favorite cooking system for up to two persons. Alcohol or solid fuel it is very efficient and has the space to store coffee, lighter etc. Cleans easily and with a 5-inch aluminum pie plate, you can utilize as a double boiler to heat your water in the large pot and cover w/the pie plate to heat other food…beans, ect. By far my favorite kit. Will last a lifetime

Love this stove and cook set! If your cooking amounts to boiling water then this is the perfect set to have for hiking trips where you want a hot meal. I have no complaints what so ever about this stove and cook set, lightweight, compact, fuel is cheap. Everything fits inside the cook set and the spirit stove can hold enough fuel for around 2 boils and seals without leaking. I prefer this to other setups like a jet boil or Colman portable stoves. It’s much lighter than my Colman and pot, lid, stove, and stand take about the same space as my little Colman stove alone. Only a couple of uses so far but this thing seems pretty solid and I expect I’ll never need to replace it with anything else.

The Esbit is a very light and practical cookset. The Esbit burner has a screw-on lid with a gasket and a plate with a handle to snuff out the fire. I paired it with the .5l Trangia fuel bottle which will provide 7 fillings. I made a windshield out of the bottom of an aluminum baking pan. I cut the aluminum to come just to the top of the burner holder and to wrap it halfway around. I filled the burner with just under 2 oz of Heet. 16 oz of water came to a rolling boil in just 4 minutes. It burned less than half of the fuel Used the smaller pot as a lid.

The windshield is a must. There are more expensive sets available, but for the money, this set is a very good buy. Lightweight and works well. I cut some small strips of foam that I use to pack the potholder and burner inside the pot. This prevents scratching the interior of the pot and prevents noise. The mesh storage bag is a perfect fit. The little pan is good to cook two eggs. I buy bacon that is precooked. It still has enough grease in it to cook a couple of eggs.

Conclusion:

The Esbit Solid Fuel Stove and Cookset is a very nice little stove. Plenty of users love this fuel stove for its user-friendly features so it is rated as 4.4 out of 5 stars. This fuel stove is suitable for hiking, backpacking, car camping, and so on. If you’ve decided to invest your penny on this wonderful stove, then your decision is correct.
